The factory is located in Jinnan District, in the mid point of Tianjin downtown and Binhai New Area. Since the development of port economy in Tianjin in the last century, Rockcheck, as a key node of steel production and logistics, has been receiving continuous pollution. The soil pollution is obviously serious and restoring soil pollution is my design goal, and I use the interaction of both soil, vegetation and human to build a system.

The project remediate soil based on railway, from PHASE 1 (ex-situ treatment, build engineering logistics and pretreatment), PHASE 2 (in-situ treatment and starting phytoremediation) to PHASE 3 (abandon railway and form an eco-corridor)

In long run, the project “back on rail” not only make soil, vegetation, people’s life back on track, but also play as a pilot project for people to participate and feel, changing people's cognition of ecological restoration. With the process of suburbanization and development of industrial production, more and more railways have the potential to follow this model.
